Health and Safety Officer, Athy

Our client is a very well established large main contractor in the construction industry in the UK, Ireland and select countries in Europe. They are heavily involved in capital project for Large Pharma, Technology and Food companies, which they construct either turnkey or substructure. Projects would range from €50 million to €250 million.

They are currently seeking a Health and Safety Officer for their safety team based in Athy, Co. Kildare.

The position would potentially suit a candidate from a trade background who have developed into a safety role or a hand on safety professional who entered the profession from college.

Duties:

• Conducting regular, formal site audits and carrying out inspections.
• Ensuring that record of statutory inspections are kept for all activities and plant equipment;
• Delivering Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees or contractors working on site;
• Serving as Client representative at Site meetings;
• Organising and chairing the Safety Meetings for staff and Sub-Contractors personnel;
• Ensuring sub-contractor safety statements and required Method statement are available on site.
• Assess sub-contractor statements and method statements, assisting where required;
• Advising / assisting Site Management in drafting and communicating Method Statements;
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure risks are reduced.

Requirements:

• Health and Safety Cert, Diploma or Degree is essential,
• With 4+ years of experience.
• Previous experience managing safety on site with a main/Sub Contractor.
• Good communication, leadership, training, and presentation skills.
• Experience in the construction industry.
